BR-153 is the main link between Brazil's Mid-North (states of Tocantins, Maranhão, Pará and Amapá) with the country's Center-South geo-economic region. Due to this fact and in addition to the large flow of vehicles, the BR-153 is currently considered one of the main national integration roads in Brazil.

The road stretch, which starts at the junction of the BR-060 in Anápolis / GO and extends to the junction with the TO-070 (west) in Aliança do Tocantins, is 624.8 km long, 598.3 km single lane and 26.5 km of double lane with central bed, in addition to 9.2 km of marginal roads, being 2.8 km unpaved.

The technical studies carried out for the 2014 concession provided for investments of R $ 4.3 billion in works and equipment and R $ 2.4 billion in operational costs, both of which were referenced in May / 2012.

Such studies, however, need to be revised once important technical and economic changes have occurred, as well as the establishment of new guidelines for public policy for federal highway concessions.

The project is intended to increase the capacity of the road, reducing transportation costs and travel time between the South of Tocantins and the Center-West.

The BR - 364  connects the city of Jataí (in the state of Goiás) to the city of Uberlândia (in the state of Minas Gerais). This strech provides conection to other major highways, such as the BR-050 and BR-153, which privdes traffic flow between the state of Minas Gerais and São Paulo. This set of highways is an important route between production regions in the Brazilian Midwest, the Southeast consumer centers, and the Santos Port.

Technical studies that underpin the project were obtained through an expression of interest procedure (PMI)  conducted by the Ministry of Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation. The studies point out an annual average daily volume of the roads (VDMA) above 4,400 vehicles, and the average equivalent volume (Veq) of vehicles is greater than 11 thousand axles daily.

A total amount of BRL 4.7 billion is estimated to be applied over the 30-year concession term, of which BRL 2.0 billion is for investments in capacity expansion and roadway improvements and BRL 2.7 billion in OPEX

Investments include:

  • Doubling of 44 km.
  • Implantation of 19 km of marginal roads.
  • 80 km of side roads
  • Implantation of 160 km of third lines.
  • Implantation of 15 walkways.
  • Implantation of 2 overpasses.

In addition to the physical improvements, the provision of medical services, mechanical assistance, among others.
