The Brazilian National Mint "Casa da Moeda" Privatization

The Brazilian Mint - CMB is a non-dependent public corporation, incorporated under Law No. 5.895, dated June 19, 1973, linked to the Ministry of Finance, with legal personality under private law, and its capital is wholly owned To the Union. It has as its main activity, on an exclusive basis, the manufacture of paper money, metallic money and the printing of postage stamps, federal tax and federal government debt, as well as the production of Brazilian passports.

The proposal for the privatization of each of the Currency of Brazil is carried out in the context of restructuring the company and aims at improving management and operation, as well as raising the quality of services, resulting in a better economic and financial performance, with an increase in the return to capital to be invested by the shareholders and improvement in the service of the population.
 
In other countries, the manufacture of paper money is a business carried on by private companies, such as De La Rue and Germany's Giesecke & Devrient, which are among the largest in the industry.
